Learn Acoustic Guitar
So you're ready to learn to play the acoustic guitar. You've made
a choice of what instrument to get, you've got a teacher lined up,
and you're ready to go. But where do you go from here? First, you
must master the basics.
When you learn the acoustic guitar, the most common thing to start
with is chords. Start simply, with basic chord shapes. Soon you
will work your way up to moveable shapes and then to barre chords.
Eventually, you will want to consider learning how chords are built
so you can create your own chords based on the melody that you are
playing or singing.
The next part of learning acoustic guitar is learning how rhythm
works. This is not difficult, but can be confusing to the beginning
student. Rhythm is one of the building blocks of music. Learning
rhythm is essential to learning acoustic guitar.
Rhythm is the "beat" of the music. To learn acoustic
guitar, first learn about how measures are divided up into beats,
and how beats are subdivided. Once you have mastered some basic
strumming patterns and can get a feel for how rhythm works, you
u are ready to start looking at fingerstyle.
When you learn acoustic guitar, the ability to play with your fingers,
or fingerstyle is probably one of the most important skills you
can have. Fingerstyle playing is the art of using your fingers instead
of a pick .To play fingerstyle guitar, you start with just using
your thumb, index and middle fingers. When playing fingerstyle or
strumming, patterns are extremely important. Take the time to learn
five or six basic patterns and how to move your thumb across several
strings, and you'll be well on your way to mastering your favorite
songs.
Always remember to be patient. Learning acoustic guitar is not
as easy as some people want it to be. A great many people are discouraged
by the fact that their fingers hurt after playing for a short time.
Your finger will hurt at first, while you're learning to play, as
calluses build up. Once your fingers have toughened up, however,
you'll be able to play like your favorite musicians. Hard work,
practice, and patience are key as you learn to play acoustic guitar.
